Mysteries of Toulouse: Adventure 1
In Mysteries of Toulouse, I will use my Grimme Perils TTRPG rules coupled with One-Page Mythic and a handful of other choice resources to run a series of solo / Co-op games set in and around the alternate history version of Toulouse, in the Europan country of Frankia.
I already knew that GP's player-facing mechanics would be make it ideal for solo / Co-op play, but some other goals of this campaign / play-through for me were:
* Utilize the unique, random aspects of GP's character creation to drive emergent play
* Put the GP rules through their paces over a number of games featuring varied encounters
* Test out One-Page Mythic to see how it works as a GM emulator for solo / Co-op games
* Run it West Marches style so I can play alone or with friends
* Utilize my ever-growing collection of Loke battle maps and my new gaming table
In this inaugural session my friend Kurt stopped by to guest star. Before he got there, I had already made my starting character:

This is Isaac Allenwright, Magus (Sorcerer) |
I should note that I randomly rolled all elements like the Name, Background, Motivation, Quirk, Unattainable Desire using GP's character creation D66 tables.
Now here is the character Kurt rolled up using the same random elements:

This is Clement Allenwright, cousin to Isaac! |
That's right, Kurt rolled the same surname as my character, and so we went with it! This is the kind of amazing coincidence random elements can create!
The session began with Isaac and Clement Allenwright on the road to Toulouse. Kurt and I used Mythic to see if we encountered anything dangerous along the road.

My new table is great for setting up games and leaving them for next session. |
We had agreed that times of late had been rough in the area, and dangers abounded. Mythic delivered a scene with words "Conflict" and "Dangerous".
We decided that we came upon a battle in the road, an ambush really. A group of Cultists had set upon a smaller group of travelers.

The battle setup. |
After a few prompts from Mythic, we decided to intercede on behalf of the travelers against the cultists. The battle was joined and the Grimme Perils rules took over.
It was an incredibly tense battle. The cultists had a dangerous spellcaster among them, and they had superior numbers.

The cultists are set to overwhelm their prey. |
Isaac ended up suffering the loss of 8 of his 16 Health. Clement was also wounded in the fighting, but our intervention spurred the very men we set out to help to counterattack. Our combined efforts managed to slay or break the cultists, and finally their evil Magus relented and retreated as well.
After the battle, we went back to Mythic to determine if the men we had rescued, including a Priest named Maliggi, could aid us in our various quests. I had decided beforehand that Isaac's reason for coming to Toulouse was to seek a witch who might aid him in his quest to access the Faerie realm and rescue a young girl from their clutches.
The Mythic emulator came through yet again! Maliggi not only knew of the witch, he knew her name--Cordelia! And that is where we left off for Adventure 1. What a session!
Thanks for reading!
