Hobby Notes

 I thought it might be fun to share a a couple of hobby notes from the past week. 


The Nomicon 

Published by Mythemere Games and written by Matt Finch, the Nomicon is a work of gaming genius that focuses on naming people, places, and things. 

This book feels as good as it looks! 

With nearly 350 pages of amazing naming content organized by theme and culture, this book is useful for players and GMs alike, and represents an invaluable resource for any RPG soloist.

The CollapsiBowl

I started seeing ads for this on social media sites, and initially dismissed it as silly, but then I took a closer look at it and read some user comments. This made me take a chance on it, and it arrived a few days ago. Wow! 

Here it is in action on my painting desk. 

It was $30, which I suppose is a lot for this sort of thing, but it really is sturdy, made of silicon, and has a number of cool features that have already improved my painting area and outcomes. It comes in different colors, and you can find it on Amazon, but I bought mine straight from their web site. 


The Numbers

This past week's tally of miniatures painted was 8, which is pretty decent considering work and other distractions. 

That's all for this update, but I should have another solo / Co-op Grimme Perils Session report out by mid-week, or maybe Friday, 9/12, at the latest.

The Return of SuperFigs?

 Well, maybe. The last year or so I have been quietly working with a talented digital sculptor who approached me about redesigning the SuperFigs line as STL files. It's been 24 years since the release of the first SuperFigs, and I just can't believe it.  So he has been slowly beavering away at figures who strike his fancy. And I am content to let the process play out and see where it goes. There's no deadline. No release date. No pressure.  But Eric did send me some test prints last month, and I finally got around to painting them up. Yeah, I make a lot of super games...

     Artwork by Jan Annarella.  I make a lot of super games because I love the genre and I love tinkering with different mechanics and dice systems.  I figure that if you also like super games, one of my rule sets might be for you! That's why a couple of years ago I published the FCS Guide to Super Gaming .
