Frostgrave Cultists III From Northstar Military Figures

Image
I got my Frostgrave Cultists III boxes last week and finally had some time to build and paint five of them.  I love this kit, and I think it's one of the best Northstar has done so far.  I used Army Painter Speed Paints for this scheme. Black and red is always such a classic combo.  I love the variety of bits you get on this frame.  The dynamic poses and options make this kit a winner.  If you were on the fence about these figures, I would urge you to take the plunge, or even use a service like Spruedude to try just one frame.  Thanks for reading!  --Scott

Grimme Perils POD Copies Available On Lulu!

Image
After some time for setup and proof approval, my Grimme Perils TTRPG is now available in POD form on Lulu's web site. You can buy the spiral binding right now-- click here!  It's $25.95 USD + shipping, and appropriately priced in other parts of the world as well.  Spiral on the left, HC on the right.  The dust-jacketed hardcover version will be available starting on November 7. Why the two week delay? I wanted to setup a special promotional price for folks because this version will be pricey! Here is the price breakdown by region:  So the USA version will retail for $42.99. The discount I am setting up will offer 25% off this price across all of Lulu's USA and international points of sale. So if you want to wait for the fancy version, I hope this will make it worth your consideration.  Here's another shot of the final spiral binding:  I never tire of seeing these great covers.  Here are some more detailed shots of the amazing quality of the Lulu ...

RPG Painting Update

Image
As I ready for my October 25th session of my Grimme Perils RPG , I am painting up some more minis to be used in the game.  What follows is a mix of North Star, Wargames Atlantic, and a deep cut of West Wind / Old Glory Vampire Wars Child Vampires!  While I had painted a different set of the Child Vampires up years ago and lost them in my wanderings, re-obtaining and painting them has reminded me just how creepy and cool they are!  I am super excited to run this game! More Grimme Perils Projects

Image
I wasn't thinking I would do any other projects this year in the wake of releasing Grimme Perils ,  a 200 page TTRPG just a few weeks ago.  I wanted to rest and recharge my batteries, but I have since run a few GP games and I am more enthused than ever to create for it and add support to its cause. In keeping with this, I have decided to release two new things in the Grimme Perils  family.  One is a set of Quick-Start rules featuring the basic mechanics and four sample characters. My plan is to give this away for free on Drivethru RPG.  The second is a new support Zine called Grimme Additions . It will include new D66 tables, Traits, Bespoke Magic rules, new Spells, and a brand new Scenario. My hope is that I can get these two out by Halloween, but we'll see. I plan to reuse a lot of art, but provide new covers. I am super excited about the cover William H. Caddell has done for GA #1, and Todd S. Tuttle crushed the design on this.  Keep in mind, this ...

Minis Painted For First Traditional Grimme Perils Game Since Its Release

Image
Since Grimme Peril's release I have only run solo and Co-op games, but tomorrow I will be running a full-on traditional GP game for 6 players!  I've been prepping miniatures like mad, and I wanted to share a few of them here.  Kitbashing these figures from various plastic sets was a blast. I leaned heavily on Frostgrave and Wargames Atlantic, but also some awesome Victrix Rus Vikings.  Every player made two characters, so what you're seeing here is just a selection. It's going to be a blast running this game, and I hope to share pictures of the gathering.  Thanks for reading!  --Scott

Mysteries of Toulouse Adventure 4:

Image
Isaac and Clement Allenwright were reunited at the Chantry, but just as they started to catch up on each other's adventures, a steward interrupted them with a desperate plea. It seemed a Chantry master of arms had gone missing. Several different crews were being tapped to search for him, and Isaac and Clement were asked to help out in the search of the city, but it would be just the two of them in their small search party.  My buddy, Kurt, was back for another Co-op session of Grimme Perils , so Clement and Isaac would team up again for this one. We asked One-Page Mythic if the Chantry would allow another bodyguard in the wake of Finnian's demise, and we got a No  on that question. We then asked if they had another task for us and got an Exceptional Yes. This meant something important. We rolled for Meaning. We got "PC", "perfect", and "burden". After a bit of thinking on this, we decided that one of the masters slated to train us (PC, perfect) ha...

Hobby Notes

Image
I thought it might be fun to share a a couple of hobby notes from the past week.  The Nomicon  Published by Mythemere Games and written by Matt Finch, the Nomicon is a work of gaming genius that focuses on naming people, places, and things.  This book feels as good as it looks!  With nearly 350 pages of amazing naming content organized by theme and culture, this book is useful for players and GMs alike, and represents an invaluable resource for any RPG soloist.  Check out this great layout! Get your polyhedral dice ready, because they will get a workout generating cool and thematic names for your characters and campaigns. If you're curious, you can grab it from Mythmere at this link .  The CollapsiBowl I started seeing ads for this on social media sites, and initially dismissed it as silly, but then I took a closer look at it and read some user comments. This made me take a chance on it, and it arrived a few days ago. Wow!  Here it is in action o...
